It is the result of a vision to create an inclusive community-based football team that celebrates culture through football.

In 2014, the Club was renamed Melbourne City FC. The Club is now entirely owned and operated in whole by City Football Group (CFG). It plays its home matches in the 30,000-capacity AAMI Park stadium, Melbourne. The Club won the FFA Cup, its first men’s silverware in November 2016, here. Erick Mombaerts manages the Club. The Club’s administrative base and training centre are located in Melbourne, on the campus La Trobe University.

The City Football Academy Melbourne has two new pitches for Melbourne’s first team, two youth and women’s teams pitches, extensive office space, and dedicated community pitches. It boasts world-class sports science and medical facilities. CFG’s Asia Pacific Centre is also located here. It is also the training and administrative center for Melbourne City Women’s FC. This club was founded in 2015. They play in the W-League, which is the highest division of women’s soccer Australia has to offer.

Melbourne City Women

Melbourne City FC launched its first Westfield W-League campaign after Football Federation Australia approved the Club’s May 2015 application for entry into the domestic women’s competition.

Their first season ended with a 100% record. They won 12 consecutive league matches and clinched the Premier’s Plate. The team also secured a historic double when they won the 2016 Grand Final.

They made history again when they won the Grand Final in 2017. They won their second consecutive victory. Under former City captain Patrick Kisnorbo, the team won a fairytale trio of victories in 2018.

Rado Vidosic, City’s Head Coach, set new records for 2020. They were the first to win four Championship titles in competition-related history.

The Academy Wing of the City Football Academy Melbourne houses the W-League team. It was founded in November 2016.
